Swift is in the process of changing their layups, from hand laid forms, to vacuum infused. Therefore, the old catalogues that have the expidition kevlar are hand laid. they may still be in production and are very well built, tough as it gets. The newer vacuum process is more expensive and lighter. They may be in production already. Try calling Swift at 1 – 800 – 661 – 1429. They can explain it better than myself.

October 1, 2007 at 5:08 pm #5519OneBadAppleParticipantthats what i get for thinkin i swore i read a 07 price list somewere that listed expedition kevlar price well it wasn’t there website i rekon cause after a earlier check at swifts website both the catalog and price list jived both just mentioning guide fusion and not expedition well brammy thanks for clearing that up…hmmm i see there havin a end of season clearance sale all good but it would probably cost me a arm and a leg to ship it here!?!?
i will have to give them a call order those few parts i need for the kipawa and see if they got any good deals for a good ol boy in michigan…i could meetum at the border not sure i’d be able to go one step further:D but dont tell noone ok:eek:October 1, 2007 at 7:15 pm #5523BrammyParticipantOBA,
I would call and ask for price to ship. I bought a Shearwater in Exped. Kevlar. They have a driver who delivers boats all over the US. THey do not go directly to your house – usually, they will meet you just off the interstate to transfer baot to your vehicle. Shipping charges are very reasonable and usually in Canadian dollars, not US, thus maybe 10 – 15% or so less than actual quote. I think the resale on a Swift in condition is high. If the boat you want is affordable, go for it. When you sell down the road, you will likely get good money and the extra expence of shipping will matter not at all. Hey if they have the boat you want, get it !!!! YOu can only paddle like 4 months of the year or so anyway in Mi, so love the boat you paddle in and drool/dream about it when you can’t! 😀
Good luck buddy.

ps brammy in case you weren’t aware that candian dollar is kickin our a$$October 2, 2007 at 1:16 pm #5524kayamedicParticipantor you could simply drive over to Rochester NY for pickup! There are Swift dealers in the US but only in the NE..still if you are in the area.
The US dollar last I saw was worth less than the loonie. Bargain here.
October 2, 2007 at 10:35 pm #5525GeraldParticipantMaybe not such a bargain to go over to the states to buy.
I was thinking of getting myself a Hemlock SRT. Hemlock is in NY state. If I pick it up I have to pay 7% NY tax then when I cross the border I get hit with both provincial and federal sales tax (about 13%). I’m going to pass on buying a boat in USA as i’m going to have to add on 20% to the cost.
GeraldOctober 3, 2007 at 2:22 am #5521OneBadAppleParticipantyeh im hip gerald… if i was buying new i’d buy from Bell Canoe Works just cause that bryan has been so helpful and that paw print just looks too cool:D
