I’m wondering if there’s any gear/equipment I need to bring that I wouldn’t if I was just back country hiking. I have a 4 day canoe camping trip planned that is mainly over lakes without any white water. Several portages will be necessary with the longest one being 1km.
I recommend gathering a good team for starters. I went on my trip with the guys from here and it was the right decision: http://www.canoeandkayakcentre.com/ I liked how prepared everyone was and they even taught me, a newbie, many things I didn’t know. Overall, I consider that trip my biggest success so far despite having doubts about it at first (since I am a newbie).
