Hi, all. My first posting here in planning for my first trip to WCPP, around Sept 4-11. Two of us are thinking of a fly-in/drive-out (or vice versa) flat water canoeing trip. After reading caribou’s fire and canoe route closure updates, we’re asking if it would be safer to wait until next season. Even if August rains put out the fires, are the routes likely to still be closed this season due to fallen trees? What would portaging, paddling, and camping be like post-fire? It’s a 21-hour drive from Eastern Ontario so we really want the isolated boreal forest experience that sets WCPP apart from our Algonquin trips. (Also: how are the wildlife handling the fires? How might the fires affect sightings and fishing?)

    Thanks for your thoughts. …Terry
