I am finding that the TOPO maps for any where in Canada is quite expensive. Is there alternatives that provide the same information? Or can one get the Queens maps less than $8.00 a pop.

    thanks

    Boneli,

They make a map for the entire park – presumably it’s still in print? It’s an excellent map, and sufficient for navigating anywhere in the park.

Thanks. I already have the adventure map from Chrismar. I would like more detail that the TOPO’s show and just looking for a source thats not out there to gouge my pocket book. I am use to traveling with the TOPO’s especially through Wabakimi and Woodland Caribou PP’s. It’s more traditional then the colored maps by Fisher or McKenzie etc.

Thanks QPassage! That Toporama link is very interesting — the interface is clumsy, but it seems like there’s quite a bit of detail on those maps, esp. for the web.

Does anyone use Google maps for route planning? I dialed in Atikokan into google maps to get close, but it looks like the Quetico area is only roughly defined…

I’ve been trying out a different one online… it’s just Northern Ontario, but it’s got a few canoe routes posted on it that I’m going to try out this summer. Try http://www.nomap.ca

Wait.. I can make a link right to Quetico park:

Is this sorta what you’re looking for?

Check out Fisher and McKenzie. Between the two they’ve guided more BWCA and Quetico trips than anyone.

Thanks for the links bushgirl – the zoom feature shows more detail inside of Quetico than the google maps do, still not enough to plan a trip in much detail, but it looks good for getting your bearings.

I lost patience with this site as I can’t see any of the overlay info that its supposed to render, but it might be a browser compatibility issue.

Ah, that’s too bad. Oh well. 🙂

I think I’m going to let them know about a couple routes around me that aren’t on there yet.

    Reviving an old thread …

I just found THIS site, which features seamless (as far as I can tell), USA & Canada topographical coverage in the highest detail. The interface is really nice; it uses a Google Maps template.

I just checked out the coverage for the Quetico, a tundra trip I did on the Hanbury/Thelon, and for my home-place and cabin in Minnesota — it’s all there!
