The Kettle River Paddle Festival is happening again, May 1,2,3 2009– in Sandstone MN on the Beautiful and Wild Kettle River.
Flat water and white water paddling for canoers and kayakers. http://kettleriverpaddlefest.com/
The event keeps getting better, this year we had perfect weather and a great water level. Kayaks, canoes, and rafts all on a class 3 river. Over 100 paddlers showed up for the festival, for a few it was the first time going down the river.
Mike Manger took first place in the white-water rodeo, second went to Brody Johnson, third place and the crowd favorite was Dave Jergenson in a Mohawk Probe canoe.
This year’s winner of the “Kettle River Run” was a Perception Pirouette, paddled by Natalie Griffith. The race combines white water skill and paddling strength, great job Natalie.
River race, rodeo, fireworks, a big paddlers party with great sponsors. Put it all on a beautiful, wild river and it’s no secret the Kettle River Paddle Fest is getting a reputation,
“laid back and action packed”.
I’m already looking forward to next year.
