The Wilderness 18 was designed by Keith Robinson to give the more experienced paddler some added water speed while still retaining load capacity and stability. While we believe the needs of novice paddlers are best served in our Quetico line of canoes, we find many experienced trippers absolutely love the Wilderness 18. Outfitters and park wardens alike, both in Canada and the U.S., swear by this canoe. It is deep as well as sleek and handles rough water well, even when heavily loaded.
Not only does the Quetico 18.5 allow for high capacity loading, but it retains amazing stability and handling characteristics. Even when heavily loaded, this canoe is easy to paddle. When it comes time to portage, you’ll be impressed with how light it is. The vast majority of Quetico 18.5s are outfitted with three seats.
If you want a canoe that will handle a month’s worth of supplies to head out on a wilderness adventure, this canoe is for you. In the Prospector 17’ you’ll find all the great characteristics that have made this canoe a paddling legend in places like the Yukon and Canadian Arctic. With lots of volume to keep you and your gear dry in whitewater or waves it still tracks well with good hull speed on flatwater.
The cargo capacity of the Prospector 18’ model can only be described as massive. The Prospector lines produce a canoe that feels deceptively light and responsive, but there’s tons of space to pack in a load of supplies for any expedition with room left over to toss in the kitchen sink. The P18 is a big boat with straighter tracking than our shorter Prospectors. It’s perfect for the wilderness traveler intent on expedition style adventures or a large family wanting to travel in one canoe.
Flattened shallow arch hull. Asymmetric rocker, more in the stern. Extremely rocker. Great for solo or tandem use.
A slalom racing, river running canoe with a flattish shallow arch like the Howler. Faster, with more control. It's also extremely dry paddled solo.
The Vertige X was conceived for tandem paddlers looking for a special niche of Whitewater playboat. It is a lengthened and modified version of our popular Vertige. As a tandem, it is an efficient and easy-tracking craft that is more easily mastered than our more radical Blast. It is available with a 3 position saddle and transforms to an efficient solo.
With a shape similar to the Nitro but longer, the Blast allows expert partners to negotiate the most extreme rapids, waterfalls, and enter the tiniest of eddy pools. It has become a boat of choice for slalom paddlers. The Blast can be paddled solo too. Ideal for larger paddlers, or big volume rivers, the Blast remains a high-performance canoe.
One of the most outstanding wild rivers in Canada is the namesake for Nova Craft’s new expedition canoe, the Moisie. It’s an incredible tripping canoe for modern day explorers who want to tackle whitewater with big waves and deep holes. The symmetrical shape, deep hull, large volume ends and 4” of rocker makes for lots of maneuverability and a dry ride in the big stuff.
