This paddle is named for American explorer Meriwether Lewis, who along with William Clark led the Corps of Discovery expedition. An over two year perilous canoe journey from 1804 – 1806, mapping and exploring the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase. Perhaps the greatest canoe-powered endeavor of the new world, they traveled from St. Louis, MO to the coast of the Pacific in present day Oregon.
