    It’s not the best choice. You basically are getting what you pay for. The hull is cheap plastic that is inclined to warp. That molded center seat looks like a nice feature, but those seats are used in cheap canoes to provide rigidity to the inferior hull material. As far as 360 degree swivel seats, they are not particularly useful in a canoe. You’ll need to hang your legs over the side in order to pivot and that could upset the balance of the canoe if you don’t time things right with your partner. There is a Youtube video made by a purchaser of a new Ascend DC156 and in it he marveled at the awful workmanship in the Ascend.

    If you are looking to save money you are far better off looking for a quality used canoe. You can probably get something like that OT Discovery, which is a decent canoe and far, far better than the Ascend, for less than what you would pay for the Ascend new.
