Please give me your suggestions and observations: I want to stabilize my 14 ft canoe. I was thinking of building outriggers by spanning and clamping a 1×3″ ash/fir beam a third of the way across the gunwales, and attaching (don’t laugh, please) exercise foam rolls (http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&key…l_655m1nt2zl_b) to the pontoons by using stainless steel/aluminum bar and Velcro strips (much like fly fishing pontoon boats are).
